We are now accepting the applications for the 10th Anniversary Edition of the World Biennial of Student Photography (2025) !

Submission information

  1. The World Biennial of Student Photography is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of academies and colleges where the discipline of photography is part of the curriculum.
  2. There are two options for students to submit their work for the 10th Anniversary Edition of the World Biennial of Student Photography:

First category: All students are expected to submit their work to the main competition, which has no set theme. Works on any subject are welcome, provided they were produced within the student’s accredited study program. All photographs must be the original work of an individual student, created as part of photographic practice at their educational institution. This must be verified by their supervisor(s) in the application form.

Second category: In addition to the main competition, students may also submit their work to a second competition based on a set theme: PRAV(DA), in English “JUSTICE“.  In Serbian, the word “prav” (meaning just, right, straight) is also a root from which many related terms are derived, encompassing meanings such as justice, righteousness, rightness, correctness, fairness, and moral order, to name but a few. The word “da” translates to “yes”. There is no single English word that fully captures the meaning of the Serbian word “prav” and its derived forms. However, the breadth of its meaning may be illustrated by the English translation of some of these terms, which requires a variety of unrelated roots:

    pravda (justice)
    pravedno (fairly, justly)
    pravosuđe (judiciary)
    pravilno (correctly)
    pravo (law or right)
    ispravno (properly, rightly)
    pravičan (righteous)
    pravilan (regular, rule-based)
ispraviti (to correct or to straighten)
    pravdoljubiv (seeker of justice)
    opravdano (justifiable)

If these words inspire you to think about justice, moral and law in your society, we invite you to submit your photographic work.
  3. All participants must be full or part-time students enrolled into an academic institution (University or College) at the time of applying for the competition.
  4. Your letters (CV, Biography etc): Please attach not more that 2 documents in pdf|txt|doc|docx format.
  5. Number of works: Each student can submit up to ten (10) photographs which are done as part of academic assignment. This can be accompanied with a short description of the work in English (up to 200 words) – an artist statement.
*If the work submitted are in the form other than traditional photography work (such as photo book, photographic installation etc.), please send both the selected photographs and provide the link to the website page where the whole body of work is presented.

The files should not exceed 10 MB per image. The name of the photography files must contain the name and surname of the student. For example if student’s name is Johann Strauss the file name should be Johann Strauss 1.jpg, Johann Strauss 2.jpg, Johann Strauss 3.jpg.
